Movies Transformers: Rise of the Beast I thought this was going to be on the same level as the newer ones and while those are bad, this one somehow manages to dig itself lower. The voice acting is probably the best thing, where the writing basically written by a 6 year old telling you a story.
Movies Lessons for the Living Within 3 weeks of each other, two movies came out about the 90 year old Bernie Jordan who escaped his nursing home to go to a D-Day remembrance. One told the true story, the other fabricating plot points, but both telling the same story of guilt and responsibility.
Movies The Last Rifleman I have so much to say and at the same time so little to say. The long and short is that Pierce Brosnan is outstanding in his role and tells a wonderful story. I am honestly not sure what to say other than watch it.
Movies The Great Escaper This movie is a testament to love, courage, and the lessons that never leave us. Showing you the beauty of 70 years of love and knowing each other can bring out the best in you, even when you don't know it still needs to be pulled out.
Movies Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom I am so mad at how dumb this movie is. Scene stolen from Star Wars, the Cantina line and the Jabba the Hut intro scene, the characters from Street Sharks, and lastly "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids". It was corny, bro-y, and just over the top stupid.
Movies The Courier You can’t mess up a true-life spy story and they sure did not. No gun fights, not war stories, just 2 men who changed the world and stopped the Cuban Missile Crisis. Benedict Cumberbatch is a superb actor and I love watching his movies. I can’t think of anything that he has done that he hasn’t fit
Movies Self Reliance I am not sure what I was thinking I'd get from this movie after watching the trailer, but it is not the movie I got. I am happy for Jake Johnson getting to write this and being in more things, but I don't think he ever plays a different character from the same character as in New Girl.
Movies The Marvels This movie was ok, but so full of plot holes that even to the most enamored, it doesn't make sense. The fight scenes are lazy and short, the story is half complete, and it just feels rushed and CGI heavy.
Movies Aliens Newt is the best character in my opinion from the thumbs up, the empty look in the beginning, and finally the salute. She was great. Also, I think Ripley was a true heroine in this movie with intention rather than just being lucky and in the right place at the right time.
Movies Alien This movie may be a classic, but in 2024, it feels slow and overly quiet. The story and practical effects hold up, but the lack of engaging sound design makes it feel lifeless. While it's iconic for the genre, the pacing and suspense don't hit as hard as they once did.
Movies Aliens Covenant I think that this movie and Prometheus were not tied to the future Aliens movies, you'd get so much more enjoyment out of them. This was an entertaining, scary, creeping, and beautiful movie, but the story relies so much more on other information and fill in the blanks that are not explained
Movies Alien Romulus Before I watched this, I was at Spec's getting a new bottle of Scotch, and the sales rep I was talking to made a good comment about this movie. It is a really nice blend of [[Alien]] and [[Aliens]] in the mix of horror vs. action.
Movies Prometheus You have to know that this is a prequel to really understand some of the significance of what you are watching. However, this story still leads to some great questions, cliffhangers, and story that makes you want to go watch the others. That is what a movie should do.
Movies Alien Resurrection This movie is for sure a mess. The jump forward of 200 years, then somehow they found enough genetic material to clone Ripley and separate it from the Queen. Speaking of dumb things, the plot holes that are covered with one line.
Movies Alien3 Also, just looking at the poster, the tagline "3 time the suspense, 3 times danger, 3 times the terror" doesn't make sense to the movie. There isn't 3 of anything really. Maybe because it was 8 years or so in between movies they could make that claim, but I don't think so.
Movies The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes The first half of this movie is solid and sets up an awesome double feature, but then dies in complete and utter failure. Viola Davis is the absolute powerhouse of this movie and everyone else pales in comparison.Correction, Peter Dinklage also killed it.
Movies Last Holiday So this is a barely better than Hallmark movie. The only real difference is that Queen Latifah doesn't go home to marry the city tree grower.
Movies The Equalizer 2 Man, Denzel is outstanding. There is no part in the opening act that I don't feel that he is living the mission that God has set for him. Helping those in need without the notoriety that others would look for. A simple Lyft driver making his way in Boston.
Movies Molly's Game What an amazing movie. I really enjoy movies that are based on real stories as it is a great glimpse into something I'd probably never research or learn more details about. Obviously the story has to be something that close to the truth, not Gladiator which is widely made up.
Movies Glass Onion The setting is also really cool. I mean who doesn't love seeing what a billionaire with a more money than they know what to do with does with a house. I mean Edward Norton has a Porsche just sitting on his roof, because "There is no where to drive it on the island." Yeah that makes sense.
Movies Expend4bles Just like the previous 3 Expendables, it is entertaining, but not going to win an award even if all movies on earth just died. Its dumb for sure, but nice to watch when you are on a plane. This is an Expendables movie. There is a lot of action, raunchy jokes, and that is about it.
Movies No One Will Save You Watch a cross between Signs, World War Z, and Quiet Place where an alien that infects its host. Our protagonist fights the alien in a city that has abandoned her due to events in the past.
Movies Gran Turismo Since this based on a true story I was really quite surprised at the presence of the story. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was an entertaining movie set in the modern day that anyone could enjoy no matter your background of enjoyment of racing or video games.
Movies John Wick 3 Since I am rewatching these, I really think the High Table is more afraid of John than we think and the story that is mentioned in John Wick about being a man of focus is something they fear. We do see that fear in John Wick Chapter 4.
Movies John Wick 2 This movie is basically part 5 and 6 of the first movie. On it's own, it doesn't have the same level of punch to the story or the pacing that was in the first movie.
