The Meg 2: The Trench
This is a good movie to keep you quasi entertained while on a plane. It isn't good, but somewhat entertaining for what would have been a direct-to-dvd/tv movie. It is a 5 for sure. At best.
Synopsis
The team from the previous movie is studying the Megs in their natural habitat. However, there is someone taking advantage of their work to make money.
Review
This movie is very much what you'd expect from the creators of the first "Meg" movie. How it has a sequel I am not honestly sure. The story is very one level with zero crazy twist. I mean they introduce another of the gigantic aquatic monsters and it last 2 seconds with no additional threat from it.
The cast is decent, I didn't have an issue with their chemistry at all. They all are believable in there enjoyment of each other. The issue is really the bad guys. They are just stupidly bad. Like ever cringey action, every clique take, every stereotypical bad guy is right here. The main one that fights Jason Statham is STUPID.
The CGI isn't terrible at least.

Parental Rating
Lots of violence, light on hard language, no sex or nudity, and no story. My dad is in based on the rules, but no by choice other than it being on TV/on a plane. My mom is out as there is no real value and family to it.
