The Last Rifleman

If you are reading this natively, I recommend you also read The Great Escaper as it is based on the the same person, but tells a different story with a different set of emotions being pulled from you. You can also read my combined review of these two movies by reading The Lessons For the Living.

Synopsis

Based on the True Story of British D-Day veteran Bernard Jordan, that presents the story as him deciding to meet up with his regiment at their old D-Day landing location, only to find out he is the last surrounded by his ghosts.

Review

I have so much to say and at the same time so little to say. The long and short is that Pierce Brosnan is outstanding in his role and tells a wonderful story. I am honestly not sure what to say other than watch it.

My Rating

I don't want to give anything away even as this is based on a real story, and you can look it up. Even writing this review, it brings emotions to my heart and tears to my eyes. The guilt of a survivor is something that takes effort to get to terms with. As in this story about a survivor weighed down by the guilt of things out of his control and what ifs, it is never something you get over. It is something you survive, which makes it stupid and ironic that the guilt you are surviving is just adding more guilt to your survival. While overall, it might be a 6 from IMDB or something like that, the story is well told and heart-wrenching. It is a must-watch that for those without a devotion to the heroes of old and will be a 6, but for the others will be unmeasurable.

Parental Rating

This will be approved by both. No sex, little to no swearing, no blood, and little violence as the war isn't the story, it is the driver.
