The Equalizer 3

The filming of this movie is much more artistic than anything done in the previous two movies. I really enjoyed this movie. There is a saying "Respect an Old Man in a Young Man's game" and I have always seen that phrase really come to life from the operators and infantrymen that I have known.

The Equalizer 3

Synopsis

Roberto is working in Italy when he finds a speck of piece in this small town for it all to be threatened by the local gangsters.

Review

This was a great "conclusion" to the Robert McCall story. Denzel is again outstanding in this character, but I do feel he is a bit more cocky in the beginning of this movie as compared to the previous ones. In fact, I think this is probably the first movie where he probably looked for the danger rather than it coming to him for the most part.

The filming of this movie is much more artistic than anything done in the previous two movies. To the point that I feel like it is a Sundance Film Festival movie. It is crazy the amount of Black and White, fish lens, double exposure, and other artistic editing choices there are, but it doesn't distract from the movie. It just is different and noticeable.

There wasn't a lot of long form gun fights like the previous ones. It was kicks of events rather than longer fight scenes. It doesn't take away from the movie, but it does make it a new movie compared to the others.

My Rating

I really enjoyed this movie. There is a saying "Respect an Old Man in a Young Man's game" and I have always seen that phrase really come to life from the operators and infantrymen that I have known. This movie I feel is the perfect display in it. There isn't a time that McCall isn't in control or aware of his capabilities/stupidity of the enemies. However, the changes in fights and the artistry takes away from the formula of the movie that made it really good. Changes to formula are fine, but I think it took away from the awe inspiring calculation that McCall is known for and turned him into "Baba Yaga."

Parental Rating

There is violence, gore, and language throughout. The language is not terrible and 50% in Italian so that's fine for my dad. As for my mom, this movie is not family oriented, but I think she would be inclined to watch this as it was about family and peace in a sense. It has a good end story and really fills the trilogy. I am going to say approved by both which I know is a surprise and rare for this type of movie.
