The Equalizer 2

Man, Denzel is outstanding. There is no part in the opening act that I don't feel that he is living the mission that God has set for him. Helping those in need without the notoriety that others would look for. A simple Lyft driver making his way in Boston.

The Equalizer 2

Synopsis

Mr. McCall is continuing his calling of providing good will to those in his community. However, his friend is killed which requires him to step in and do the investigation himself.

Review

Man, Denzel is outstanding. There is no part in the opening act that I don't feel that he is living the mission that God has set for him. Helping those in need without the notoriety that others would look for. A simple Lyft driver making his way in Boston. He loves to help others and will work to protect those in his care.

The kid that he takes under his wing to help him out does a great job of presenting a background that is ravaged by gang actions and that pressure to be "That guy" and jump into the fight. His acting is top notch and I wish I saw him in more (I have not seen Moonlight yet). Outside of these two, Pedro's pascals team is ok, with him being the standout performance of that group.

The story is a really nice continuation of the first movie and while you can watch this independently, I think that the first movie is honestly a must to understand the idea of McCall faking his death and who Susan is and it is because of these constant references, that I will have to deduct some of the score. However, the plot in this movie is solid. People will do the worst things when pressed into the wall and this is nothing but that. A story of betrayal and revenge.

My Rating

An outstanding movie with great fight scenes and an honest assessment of who we should be. People who make the world better than when we found it. Denzel is awesome in this character and I look forward to watching the new one. 8/10.

Parental Rating

Good fight scenes and minimal language means that my dad is absolutely going to watch this. My mom on the other hand while she would watch it with my dad, it has too much blood and violence. She is out.
