Minority Report

This movie did NOT age well. It is hard to see, bad acting, and honestly a mashed together timeline and story that easily makes this Steven Spielberg's worse movie. The lens flares and halo effect that are supposed to push a "futuristic" world makes it impossible to watch at time.

Review

This movie did NOT age well. It is hard to see, bad acting, and honestly a mashed together timeline and story that easily makes this Steven Spielberg's worse movie. The lens flares and halo effect that are supposed to push a "futuristic" world makes it impossible to watch at time.

Colin Farrell and Tom Cruise do not put on a performance. There are parts where Tom is showing some real effort, but honestly it isn't an effort that lifts the entire cast.

I think the issue is the story/writing itself. Colin's character is singularly focused and doesn't provide anything to the story that couldn't have been done by someone else/anyone else. The drug use that Tom has in the beginning is brushed aside in the second half of the movie and doesn't have any long term effects. The love interest is weirdly forced and feels that is there just to have a nice bow at the end. Also in this future world, nothing has changed, but they are using "Sick sticks" as a means of deterrence? Legitimately you get stabbed with this and immediately throw up. What kind of world is that better than pepper spray or a taser? I saw that with first hand knowledge of both of those. I never want to projectile vomit.

The idea of the story is fine and honestly I 100% think it would be exploitative the EXACT same way if humans did come across this. We are getting close to it with Identity Dominance such as in First Platoon which is the most plausible way that it will happen.

My Rating

This movie used to be so entertaining, but the sick stick the weapon handling, the stereotypically aggressive cops just turn what was an "A" movie into a "B" movie. This isn't helped by the CRAZY halo affect and lens flares. Its a 6 and that is me being nice.

Parental Rating

This movie has light language, drug use, some violence, and that is about it. While this movie is about the recovery of family, it isn't about family. It is about selfishness. My mom is out. My dad has never been a big Tom Cruise fan and this movies hasn't survived the times so I do not think my dad would be entertained. Rejected by both.
