Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

This movie tried so hard to pull in every recall from previous movies, with the exception of Crystal Skull, that they could. People, lines, and story are all the same. I am immensely surprised that Harrison Ford agreed to do this movie. It isn't anything different.

Review

This movie tried so hard to pull in every recall from previous movies, with the exception of Crystal Skull, that they could. People, lines, and story are all the same. I am immensely surprised that Harrison Ford agreed to do this movie. It isn't anything different.

The thing that has always made Indiana Jones is that mythology was just something right outside of what we knew. This one has elements that have NEVER been talked about that should have and would have been reported by everyone. Also, really the Nazi's again. I know it seems to be the thing that we do now calling people we disagree with Nazi's, but that isn't the take this movie and it is just straight up the same bad guys as before.

The fight scenes are nowhere, it is just a bunch of whiney people. The kid is mad because old man Indy is calling the shots, the girl is mad because she can't make money, and Indy is mad because he is old. There is an attempt to put a deeper meaning to why Indy is the way he is, but the story just throws it in there and then leaves it alone until the final scene. It is just lost.

My Rating

This movie is lackluster and I am unsure why it general has a "7" for a rating. This isn't that good. The supporting characters are either wildly terrible or good. The story is legitimate rinse and repeat from the previous to the point that it is annoying. Its a 4 at best.

Parental Rating

My dad loves the Indiana Jones movies and I think he would be terribly disappointed with this one if he hasn't watched it already. There is mild language, some violence, and a missed family story beat. My dad would be mad, but based on the rules I have for him he would approve it as would my mom. But they would never watch it.
