How to Die in Space

The Book in 1 Sentence

A fantastic book explain the science of the universe that will make you great on Space Jeopardy, but whose information will be ultimately forgotten within the week.

Brief Review

Dr. Paul Sutter does a fantastic job presenting the science of what you will see in space if you were traveling via a spaceship. A spaceship that would need science and engineering that doesn't exist. From Black Holes, Neutron Stars, Solar Waves, and other astrophysics phenomena that are striking to look at, but would kill you without thought.

Why I Read this book

I mean really? It has a great cover, cool title, and in a post-interstellar world, who doesn't want to know more about space. Honestly I think this was on a 2-1 credit sale for Audible. Glad I grabbed it.

In-Depth Review (Favorite Quotes)

Alex I want Weird Things in Space for 400. What is the process where you get torn asunder by gravity by the stretching and compression of gravity? Speghittification. This is also my new favorite word. What a concept that they had to come up with a word about how objects in space when they get too close to a black hole. Interstellar was both right and wrong. We will just have to suspend disbelief. Great movie.

I digress from my Jeopardy references, but honestly it was a really interesting book. I did listen to it on Audible and Dr. Sutter read his own book. He is a great orator and you can hear the passion in his voice. There is great sign posting in the book about what was previously talked about, so that way you don't have to attempt to remember the text book level detail that he provides.

There is so much information in this book and it is really interesting, but it is so much. I want to know more, I want to remember, but I honestly can't remember what most of the book details are. I was so enthralled by the book that I wanted to work out so I could listen more.

I guess I should remark about the title of the book. The whole premise is that IF you could travel through space, this is what you would have to look out for or avoid. Even if it is a beautiful sight.

Rating

This is an amazing book. I can't recommend it enough. I know that you aren't going to remember it, but you should still read it. Its an 8 and the only reason it isn't a 10 is because I can't remember a good chuck of the book.
