The Actual Review

Gameplay

This open world game is just like any other where there is lots of space and POIs that barely little the world. The sword fighting is great though. You can either feel so powerful or absolutely weak.

The horse call function honestly is super annoying as sometimes the horse would just stop running or would run slow. This is also compounding the fact that the horse doesn't do anything additional for you other than speed. The speed increase isn't really a lot, but it is unlimited.

Outside of these items, the game is incredible repetitive of other open world games where there are things to find, small quest to do, and a sporadic amount of people to fight.

As a side note, there was no reason for exposed butts in the the hot spring scenes when he is just relaxing.

Graphics and Sound

This is the most beautiful game I have ever played. The colors just standout and make you feel so alive.

There are animals that serve both as a collectable/achievement and a story line item, and why these matter is that you can pet these animals. My wife loved to pet them so I would give her the headphones while I was chasing them and even she said the sound design was outstanding in this game. You can here the little noises from the animals, the rustling of trees and grass, the occasional arrant conversation, and just these little bit of wind carrying windchimes.

Story and Characters

The story is so good. While there isn't a choice matters in the long run, the forced cutscenes with these small decisions really forces you to be involved. There are some really cool story beats that tear at your heart especially in the Iki island DLC.

The main character, Jin Sakai, is an outstanding character with some internal struggle, growth, and love for his people. He is an outstanding protagonist.

My Rating

This is easily my favorite game in the last 5 years or so. As I said it just gives you a feeling of immersion and depth through the beauty and sound design that you don't get. GET THIS GAME.

Parental Rating

My parents would be so applaud at the violence in this game and would be so mad that I am just aggressively killing people for the sake of sometimes just because they are in the way.
