A great continuation of the Witcher series. Expanding on the relationships, settings, and politics. From assassin's, mages, and kings, it will for sure feel like a season of Game of Thrones. This book is worth the read if you have played the games or watched the show.

Brief Review

A great continuation of the Witcher series. Expanding on the relationships, settings, and politics. From assassin's, mages, and kings, it will for sure feel like a season of Game of Thrones. This book is worth the read if you have played the games or watched the show.

Why I Read this book

I've played the games for years and really enjoyed the show. Henry Cavil did a fantastic job with the role and while I am sad that he is leaving at the end of the next season, I have hope that the creators will keep it going.

In-Depth Review

I am going to basically review all 3 of the short story novels. That means it will include [[Sword of Destiny]] and [[The Last Wish]]. They all have the same formula of switching between characters to provide additional view points about the situations.

These fantasy books build an amazing world that is really unique as compared to others. If you aren't into fantasy worlds with heavy magic, this might not be for you; However, if you do like some magic, I found that it was well within the realm of being entertaining and not overly "Magic is the cure for all plot" types books.

I will say that some of the characters do feel flat. Specifically the characters that are not the narrators. I can tell they are trying to fill the characters out, but I can't seem to feel anything for the characters. There is something off and I know mentally I do a lot of the filling in from either the show or the games.

I think the reason I keep reading these books, is because of the story is fantastic. The way that Sapkowski continues to weave in new and old items really helps build the stories. Having read each of these books pretty close to each other I think that is the way to go. These stories don't cross a lot of time, but for sure are seamless stories that build the world that you see in the games and what I assume will follow in the next books as those are all full stories on their own, I believe.

Rating

These books are honestly solid. Really good reads, but find them on sale or in a pack.
