Review

If I had a one sentence review for this movie it would be “Turok comes to the big screen”.  Turok was a game for Nintendo that you found a island with Dinosaurs. Gonna be honest, I don’t remember the story at all, but I remember fighting Dinosaurs as a kid.

The movie was slow, but I enjoyed it. Adam Driver is my brother from another mother. Marine who is trying to do something better with his life and I whole heartedly applaud his work. Love him in all things. Anyway, he does a great job of playing a caring pilot trying to do the right thing.

The gun fights were really well done. I mean what would fighting a Dino look like? So the imagination for the writers is well done. What made me annoyed was the additional wrinkle of the girl being unable to speak the same language. It was really unnecessary to an already insurmountable problem of fighting giant lizards. I mean God nuked them to being dogs in the world. Haha

In general the plot line had promise but dies on impact just like 90% of the passengers. It makes sense, but it is just hoop after hoop and the girl just manages to escape constantly because Deus Ex Machina. It just gets frustrating.

My Rating

Adam Driver and the premise are the only good things about this movie. The plot points are forgettable, the girl is a god, and Adam Driver doesn’t miss. I lied the movie because I am loyal, but it’s in need of a major lift. 6/10 but it has to stop the magical wins.

Parental Rating

Other than the pace, the movie itself is more wholesome than expected. Violence is against Dinos, even PETA can’t be mad at that, and I don’t remember any egregious language so I think both my parents would watch it, but would they like it?  What do you think?
