Synopsis

CIA Contractors must defend CIA and Department of State personnel from a terrorist attack against US compounds in Benghazi, Syria.

Review

This is for sure one of the most controversial events to happen to US personnel in modern history while on foreign soil. This story has two very opposing sides and this side of the story comes from the book of the same namesake.

The acting from the primary cast here is so good. John, Pablo, and James are outstanding. This movie alone shows how underrated Pablo is. He also is the number one provider of outstanding military humor starting with a story of a Commander's beret.

The action is great. It isn't often that you see action scenes that convey story and emotion consistently. I think Hacksaw Ridge is probably the only other one that is sending story beats in the midst of explosions, gun fire, and hatred for the enemy.

That is the other thing that really stands out for this movie. You can tell that the consultants made sure that the booms, shots, and tactical decisions were accurate. Just like Lone Survivor, someone that was there helped with this presentation.

My Rating

This is one of those movies that I watch a couple times a year as it is also part of my May Memorial Movies (I really need a better name for that series). It is really a fantastic movie if you couldn't tell from my review above. What honestly kills it is the supporting actors. From Chief, to the French American, to the rest of the randoms that are in the movie are just flat. They drag it down and remove it from an almost perfect movie. It is an 8.

Parental Rating

Blood, Gore, violence, and language like a sailor that knows no other words or actions but death and hades himself. My dad likes this movie and the language because of how it is placed, I haven't heard him complain about, but it is there. My mom on the other hand would not watch this. While the movie focuses on the idea of love for your family on the battlefield, it isn't a happy movie. This movie is about sacrifice and calling. Dad approves, Mom rejects.
