The Recruit (Netflix)

Synopsis

Owen is a new lawyer at the CIA and is given the task of reviewing "Greymail" which is where someone send mail to the CIA saying if they don't do X then they will spill classified information.

Review in One Sentence

This show was entertaining, but the litany of stupid decisions that placed the main character in his situation is incredible. Dumb on dumb on dumb.

Review

This show was recommended by a couple friends of mine because "it is funny and good." The best word I have is that it is "Entertaining." Overall, the story is good and interesting, but the amount of things that would not happen or happen because X is stupid is over the top. Owen makes bad decision after bad decision and also decisions that don't make sense for anyone that has never been in those situations. For instance, at one point during the show he see something bad happening and gives NO callout over the radio, but when attempting to give a "something is wrong here" warning, the lead tells him to shut it and he decides to run in to the event. Stupid, he is a lawyer. This type of event goes on and on and on... every episode is a constant "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!"

Enough about the story. The acting is pretty good. I believe that these people are who they say they are, even if they fit the new stereotypes.

It is worth the watch with a second season available ending, but this should have been cancelled over some of the shows that Netflix did cancel.

Rating

Its a 6. Not great, entertaining enough to keep me interested, but needs some love.

Parental Rating

The language is a bit on the high, but honestly it isn't used that often, but is more than my Dad would like. He would watch it, but would complain about the amount of language. Sex was minimal and implied more than shown and nudity was either non-existent or just a bunch of butts. Mom would watch it, but not her first choice.
